E-Mail from Deputy Training Coordinator
Joseph M. Doyle, Sr., New Mexico Tech/DHS, Socorro, NM Dated
January 30, 2010 Invitation to NRLO Members
My name is
Joseph M. Doyle, Sr. I am the Deputy Training Coordinator for
the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Programs here at New
Mexico Tech. We offer a number of Programs funded completly by
DHS. This means, of course, the programs are completely paid
for students who attend the courses.
Our two
"Resident Courses" are 1. "Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings"
(IRTB) and 2. "Prevention and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents"
(PRSBI). They are offered here in New Mexico. The
funding for these courses includes the airfare, hotel, perdiem,
rental car, and the course. Literally everything is paid for
but the students' salary and/or "backfill."
The IRTB course
is 32 hours and is held in Socorro, New Mexico; and the PRSBI is 40
hours and is held in Playas, New Mexico. These are
train-the-trainer courses, and we hope and expect the students to
return to their communities and share what they have learned.
All instruction materials (participants' manuals, pre and post
tests, and certificates) are provided by New Mexico Tech at no
charge.
We offer "At
Your Location" courses. We offer Performance-Level courses in IRTB
and PRSBI which are 4 hours long; and we have an 8-hour
Performance-Level course ILERSBA "Initial Law Enforcement Response
to Suicide Bombing Attacks." All are taught by our Instructors
at your location. What you are asked to provide are 50
students per class and a location to hold the class.
Members of your
Association can attend these NMT/DHS courses, and it's free.
You can go on-line at http://respond.emrtc.nmt.edu and see all of
the information I have stated above and even obtain the one-page
application and learn how to proceed with the process of
attending. Or, you can call Jim Lehner at (575) 835-5917 (or
jlehner@emrtc.nmt.edu) for the
"Resident" courses or Richard Campbell (575)
835-5054 (or rcampbell@emrtc.nmt.edu) for the
"Performance-Level" courses.
We were hoping
you could make the members of your Association aware of this free
training. This training is truly current, timely, and is
mandated in most states for WMD training information. Any
assistance you could provide in this endeavor would be greatly
appreciated and is a giant step in the fight against
Terrorism.
Respectfully,
Joseph M. Doyle Sr.
