NRLO is pleased to introduce
Officer Stephen B. Phillips of the
Buffalo Special Police K-9 Training and Consultation.
In an e-mail to NRLO, K-9 Training
Officer Phillips said, "I have started
working with the Buffalo, New York, Special Police Dogs in the areas
of tracking, cadaver detection,
and accelerant detection. The Buffalo Assistant Chief is
Wayne Lombardo; and his dogs are in training.
I had previously
completed the NY State Bureau of Municipal Police Peace Officer
Course. I am now certifying dogs through the American Working
Dog Association, and we are anxious to work with part-time
Officers, Reserve Officers, and Special Deputies in their K-9
endeavors, including offering Nationally accepted certification
(which many Law Enforcement K-9 Associations will not
do!).
I would like to help
provide information to your group. Contact me at narcdog1@yahoo.com.
I do offer this advice. If you are serious about
offering K-9 services to agencies in your area, you CAN make a
difference. Tracking Dogs, Cadaver Detection Dogs,
Accelerant Detection Dogs and even Narcotics and Explosives
Detection Dogs can be successfully used by Reserve Officers to
supplement the full-time K-9 Units. These dogs can
be fully trained, or trained in programs designed for the
Reserve Unit's needs. It's a lot of hard work to get started,
but very satisfying to those who do it.
