The Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Program is an effort developed by the U.S. Department of Justice in partnership with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).  This program was created to support President Bush's USA Freedom Corps initiative and is one of two Citizen Corps programs administered by the U.S. Department of Justice.  At a time when Law Enforcement's limited resources are being stretched after the terrorist attacks of September 11, agencies are turning to civilian volunteers to enable Police Officers to be on the front lines, working to make communities safer.  Click here for more information on the VIPS Programs and Events on the VIPS web site and web cast.

NRLO's Conference Central is proud to introduce Morgan County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Preston L. Schoentube, NRA Certified Instructor and presenter of NRA's "Refuse To Be A Victim".

First, a little about Deputy Schoentube

Reserve Deputy "PL" Schoentube said to NRLO: "A bunch of us have come out of retirement so to speak, and serve as Deputy Reserves.  Our great need is more training, and I think I've found the answer to that in NRLO."

Deputy Schoentube continued:  "It's hard for even me to believe I'm doing what I am in the Reserves; but, thank God, I plan to keep on until I can no longer function which I hope and pray will be many years down the road.  God Bless and May God Bless America."
