California Law Enforcement
agencies employ approximately 8,600 Reserve Officers. Reserve
Peace Officers are required by Commission Regulation 1007(a) to
meet the same selection standards (e.g. background medical and
psychological screenings) as full-time regular Officers. Commission
Regulation 1007(b) outlines the minimum
training requirements for Reserve Peace Officers.
